Build the Value

If you are not at your best in the marketplace, you won’t last long in the marketplace.

There is a lot of competition in the marketplace. Learning how to build the overall value of yourself and your business will give you that edge you need to succeed beyond your competitions ability.

More companies are offering poor service, poor quality products based on a poor business plan. Few companies compared to the masses are offering better service and higher quality products. To me this is an overall reflection of America’s slide into complacency and mediocrity in the global marketplace. Offering the better value starts one person at a time.

Value P
Perceived Value is the ability to give something a quality of being worth more. If your product or service costs more than the competitions, give it the appearance of being worth more money. I know of business owner who will include the accessories that go with his products rather than discount the price. Instead he builds the perceived value of the accessories, while keeping his margins in place. The actual cost of the accessories, are not that much, so his out of pocket expenses are minimal.

Build the value of the business so it can have a reputation in the Marketplace as being the place to get your type of products or services. As a business it is important to separate yourself from the competition in a dynamic way.

Figure out how to be different and then be that difference all the time.

Also consider this. If you were in need of say a hammer and you went to the first store that came to mind and they were out of hammers, where would you go next? The point is, if someone is looking for your product or service and you are not in the top three places that come to mind for them, you are SOL.

Be the kind of person they remember first and then the money will come.

Build the value of the leader inside you. Who your customer does business with is you! There is much more to life than getting up in the morning, going to work, coming home, have dinner, watching some TV and going to bed.

The best investment I have ever made was and still is developing my spirit and mind. The reason why the things we want don’t always come to us is we are not ready for them. Develop self first and everything else will come in due season. People buy into the leader before they buy into his or her leadership.

Build the value of the customer. Why do customers leave? Depending on the situation, the customer’s reason for not coming back could be price, perceived value, personality matching, selection, dissatisfying experience, or you didn’t ask them to keep coming back. The responsibility of the owner or employee is to make the customer feel good about what you do and how you do it. If the customer does not feel good about their experience with your business or you don’t give them a reason to come back, they will go some where else.

Build the value of the product or service. Selling something for the sake of the sale isn’t selling. It’s taking an order, processing it and then saying next.

One particular self-image possessed by high-achieving salespeople is that they see themselves as consultants rather than as salespersons. They see themselves as problem solvers with their products or services rather than as vendors looking for someone who will trade them money for what they have to offer”.

Build the value of the truth. Customers will remember two things about you.

What they remember what you said and how you made them feel.

In today’s moral economy Integrity (truth) is a lost art form. Most of time people just want it to fit how they feel about things. The point is the sales or service person and the customer always want to be right in their own eyes. I have heard customers say “so and so told me this price” in order to fit their truth. The thing is, who remembers what, becomes the truth.

How you feel about what you say is what gets people going.

Carl W. Buechner said, "They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

If you don’t feel the excitement first, it is difficult to make the customer feel excited about the deal either.
